| | Assist in Accessing Fresh Water Through the Wells for Women Project |
Currently, women of the rural communities spend up to 60% of their day carrying buckets of water on their heads; each weighing up to 25 lbs., often over long distances. Not only do they get attacked by animals, but they also endure serious back injuries. This causes chronic pain, which depletes valuable time that could be used more productively. The Wells for Women project will install wells within villages, thereby reducing the distance and time currently taken to obtain clean water. (In picture...... Millions are stricken with HIV/AIDS in Africa. Many times the HIV/AIDS suffering Africans are victims of their situations. People are forced into drugs, alcohol and prostitution due to lack of finances to survive. These behaviors often lead to the spread HIV. The African Reflections Foundation will provide free HIV testing for members in the community. For those whom prove positive, the foundation will fund medication and counseling in order to provide continued health care and extended quality lifestyle. The foundation will also promote community-based projects to help eliminate the stigma attached to those who suffer from HIV/AIDS and to reintegrate them into the community as contributory members. |
| | Contribute to the Education of African Youth |
Currently, many African school children are forced to sit on the floor because their classrooms have no desks. A greater misfortune is that some children have to take classes on the hard-packed earth, as there are an inadequate number of classrooms. African Reflections Foundation will contribute to the education by funding the supply of needed school desks and other educational hardware, as well as build schools in areas where they are needed the most.
